Characters

AJ Jenkins (Justin Herman)

AJ Jenkins (Justin Herman)

Officer AJ Jenkins – A hot headed, egotistical and highly energetic cop, AJ Jenkins and his rank, which is never stated, appears to be stuck in a thick rut during the course of attempting to advance in his troubling career on the Barton police force. Constantly being thought to be nothing more than a hyper squirrel not worthy of any real police work, AJ Jenkins seeks to prove himself by solving a new murder case that even the department’s actual detectives do not believe to be real.

A rabid fan of techno and an avid womanizer, Jenkins often prides himself, sometimes desparately and reassuringly, that he’s “a hardcore bad ass.” When the department receives a major budget cut and is forced to do away with multilight sirens, Jenkins becomes the only one in the department that uses a blue light instead of a red light, which, he says, “balances out the vibe.” He also maintains a constant hatred for religion, fears anything that appears to be genuinely spiritual (like ghosts), and cannot stand the idea of others taking credit for his work, even if they really did deserve the credit given.

AJ faces a constant confidence battle with himself as he attempts to fight and bargain with Commissioner Preston Leebo for a better position, but only gets paired with rookie partner Bob Riley, fresh out of the academy.

Bob Riley (Chester Smith)

Bob Riley (Chester Smith)

Rookie Bob Riley – Fresh out of the Houston Police Academy, Bob Riley was termed by headquarters as being “a little too nice” for duty in the standard Houston Police Department, so he ended up getting transferred to the quiet world of suburbia known as Barton County. In love with his wife and desparate to win her approval, Bob Riley quickly uncovers a plot in his home life that could very well ruin his chances of ever focusing on a career or learning to be a proficient police officer.

His wife, Sarah Riley, has a bad tendency of cooking meatloaf every night. At the end of the day, all Bob Riley really wants is to be respected for actually trying to do his job well, and win the approval of his partner AJ Jenkins.

Bob Riley quickly develops a paranoid personality as Jenkins attempts to throw him off course from being an officer or much less Jenkin’s partner. Jenkins even pays one of the detectives to scare him out of his first night on patrol. While the influences the other officers throw at him do not work right away, Riley quickly takes ideas of his own and runs with them, even while they are not real.

Preston Leebo (Scott Lee)

Preston Leebo (Scott Lee)

Commissioner Preston Leebo – With a horrific childhood and a false diagnosis of having Tourrette’s Syndrome, Commissioner Preston Leebo has been put through the ringer but has never quite gotten used to it. Constantly tense over what Internal Affairs and HPD is thinking of the Barton Police Department, it is a constant struggle for Leebo to cope with running a largely incompetent police department, filled with officers he appears to think little of deep down, particularly that of AJ Jenkins.

While many wonder how Leebo was appointed to such a robust leadership position those sorts of thoughts typically take a backseat for detectives Ramirez and McAlister, who Leebo has turned into his personal assistants and errand runners. Never wavering with trying to stand firm, Leebo appears to actually have a good heart when it comes to his work ethic, striving to reward his officers with gold stars for extra work and achievements, which he places up on a poster in his office labeled “The Leebo Chart of Wonders.”

Seeing his uptight and high spent personality, cool and collected ex-military officer Bill O’Hara quickly attempts to take Preston under his wing and banish his speech impediment and insecurities once and for all.

Alex Ramirez (Xavier Flores)

Alex Ramirez (Xavier Flores)

Detective Alex Ramirez – Perhaps more than any other officer in the entire department, Alex Ramirez has a signature apathetic attitude unsurpassed by anyone else. He hates the office and hates office work. At some point in the distant past years before Alex Ramirez actually was a talented detective for the Barton Police Department, back when headquarters was not cracking down and city burearcracy was not overrunning and overlapping the jursdiction lines of Barton County.

While Alex Ramirez has a high tolerance for drama and dealing with high stress situations, he has had little to do but have a love-hate relationship with his partner, Detective David McAlister. While they have numerous conversations on a variety of random topics, McAlister actually managed to sleep with Ramirez’s mother and sister in the same weekend.

As he finds his life dull and boring, he eventually has a girlfriend that brightens his daily routine. A fan of wrestling and weaponry, Alex finds himself lucky to keep himself entertained throughout the day as the department crumbles further into a lack of momentum and there remains less and less actual detective work.

David McAlister (John Pandolph)

David McAlister (John Pandolph)

Detective David McAlister – While many would claim Jenkins is the most girl crazy guy in the department, McAlister definitely appears to take the title once you get to know him. Living in the states for a long period of time, David has a light Irish accent, strongly influenced by his time spent in America.

McAlister specifically requested to be assigned to Barton County as opposed to anywhere else. When asked why, he often says that being an officer, or especially a detective, in a suburban environment is a lot less stress free, and the women a lot easier to get to know.

If McAlister were to have a hobby, it would likely be finding a good bar or pub, which he has struggled to do anywhere in Barton County, or even the entire city of Houston. While others would be drastically affected by a desire to drink, McAlister does not appear to be an alcoholic, and even had incredibly high scores when tested for his IQ before qualifying for duty in Barton Police. His aptitude tests and intelligence scores sometimes far outweigh what appears to be a childish attitude regarding women and other people’s opinions of him. Other times, he appears entirely nonchalant.

Bill OHara (Mitchell Ganey)

Bill O'Hara (Mitchell Ganey)

Officer Bill O’Hara – A 4th generation Navy Seal who has been in “countless CTO missions and black ops.” Being ex-military and also being overly qualified with special forces training, Bill O’Hara has a very different outlook on small city police work. A lot about Bill O’Hara remains mysterious, but while AJ Jenkins dreams of being hardcore, Bill O’Hara fits that description far better.

Police work is not a joke with Bill O’Hara, but then again, nothing else is either. Having never failed during any of his military operations and graduating top of his class during basic training, sniper school, and of course: he was the top Seal, Bill O’Hara has an incredible dedication to what he would deem his craft.

When asked about what his problem solving abilities, O’Hara likes to remark that problems are solved on his front before they start. Still, he is careful to never remain overconfident and always moves into difficult situations with at least some preparation and control. His favorite past times are maintaining his aim at the gun range, being an instructor for hand to hand combat, and reading up on CIA history.

Jose D. Garcia (Matt Cisneros)

Jose D. Garcia (Matt Cisneros)

Dispatch Jose D. Garcia – “When people are dyin’, they call yo bitch Jose,” he likes to remind those viewing the happenings of the department. While Jose believes it was entirely Preston’s idea to begin filming the events of the department, he never fails to be candid and honest with the audience when sharing his real personal thoughts.

Most of the time, Garcia is not serious and has even come close to losing his job for telling those who call the police station looking for help to “get over it, bitch.” Without him, he believes the department would be even more dull and boring than it already is, so he takes it upon himself to maintain the responsibility of being the office prankster.

When it comes down to it, Garcia does actually seem to care about whether or not those in the office are having a good time, and reasserts daily that most of the officers there take things too seriously. Their response is that Garcia really only has to answer the phones, and he has no idea what kind of horrors actually occur on the streets.

Marshall Price (Michael Gutierrez)

Marshall Price (Michael Gutierrez)

Officer Alcoholic Marshall Price – A once positive person, Marshall Price has become worn down and drowned in alcohol after many problems with a dark past. At the height of his career he was a bodyguard for the famous rapper P Nigga, but has since found himself divorced, separated from his child, and working at Barton Police Department.

Beyond the knowledge of headquarters, it is a commonly known fact that Marshall Price has developed a severe alcohol problem, even drinking on the job throughout the day almost constantly. On patrol, he does little to actually secure the streets as he cannot very well care for himself. Instead, he tries the best he can to relax and drink while battling an ongoing episode of depression and emotional pain.

Marshall Price’s single greatest moment of glory came recently, however, when he broke up a teenage beer pong party at local Barton County apartments, and then proceeded to drink any remaining alcohol and steal their keg. His law enforcement propensities can be seen in Part 3 of Episode 2.

Davonte Roscoe Jankins III

Davonte Roscoe Jankins III (Xavier Flores)

Davonte Roscoe Jankins III

While he may not publicly say so, Davonte insists on running the streets his way, and his way definitely excludes the Barton Police. While the full range of crimes Davonte is involved in remains unknown, he has already been seen with a stolen gold chain medallion, an unlicensed Uzi firearm, and may be involved in pimping illegal prostitutes as he was reported to have said “I just dropped off one of my hoes and I was on my way to pick up another one.”

Davonte was first seen in the last part of Episode 2 – On Patrol. He has developed a personal feud with Officer AJ Jenkins, claiming that he was treated under overly harsh terms and was a clear victim of police brutality. Davonte and his sidekick Leonard Biggs have also reportedly been involved in a fire fight against Officer Bill O’Hara. In addition, Davonte is quickly becoming one of the most unofficially wanted criminals in Barton County and may even be involved in the illegal drug trade from his house at 2435 Drank Street.

Leonard Biggs (Chester Smith)

Leonard Biggs (Chester Smith)

Leonard Biggs

The ghetto, gun wielding sidekick of Davonte R. Jankins III, Leonard Biggs is an underground rapper who dreams of one day creating a song in collaboration with the famous rapper P Nigga. Leonard carries with him a rough, defiant attitude and swagger that makes any street thug fear his name. In the midst of a rough neighborhood, Leonard assists Davonte in defending his territory on Drank Street.
